Renato has over 19 years of experience in the fields of Energy, Environment, and Climate Change. He is the project Team Leader of “EU-China ETS Platform” (http://www.eu-chinaets.org) and of “Support to EU Arctic Policy” Project. He is a Member of the Supervisory Board of the European Chamber Commerce in China (EUCCC).
He is an industry respected and recognized international expert in Climate Policy and Carbon Markets. He has been living in Asia for over 15 years. Renato led a delegation of observers to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP21 and COP22 and coordinated delegations of observers to COP23-COP27. He has experience in supporting EU, China, Korea and Ukraine ETS policy design and implementation. Renato completed his Master Degree on Chinese studies with a thesis on “The Use of Renewable Energies in Northwest China” (off-grid systems); he also attended Master of Arts (MA) in economics, energy, and environmental policy from where he transitioned into a PhD focusing on sustainable energy systems from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Portugal program where he completed one semester of coursework.
