Hosuk Lee-Makiyama is a Senior Fellow of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, whose expertise and publications span economic diplomacy, digitalisation and sustainable governance.
His advice has been sought by the EU institutions, G7/20 governments and all the principal organisations on economic cooperation, including APEC, ASEAN, OECD, World Trade Organization, World Bank and various UN agencies. He is also affiliated with the London School of Economics, ECIPE in Brussels and other academic institutions.
He has been called to witness in the US Congress, European Parliament, UK House of Commons and other legislative assemblies. Lee-Makiyama is also a regular commentator on BBC, Financial Times, Nikkei, Al Jazeera, CNBC, CNN and Monocle24.
Prior to academia, he was posted to the UN and World Trade Organization by the Government of Sweden and he has also worked in the private sector. He was born in Tokyo, is a native citizen of Sweden, and educated in law, economics, and public administration in London, Stockholm and Massachusetts.
