EICKHOFF, Gabriel

Gabriel is the co-founder and COO of ClearWind Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based NBS project developer now operating throughout Southeast Asia. He has been leading work in the climate and forestry sector in Southeast Asia since 2006. He specializes in the design and development of market-driven solutions to conservation, ecosystem restoration and community forestry initiatives.  Over the last 18 years, he has been dedicated to the high quality design of voluntary market projects on the ground and seeking integration into jurisdictional and national systems in over a dozen countries across Southeast Asia, Central Africa and South America. In addition to his project-based work, he has advised national government and sub-national programs across the region, including the Indonesian REDD+ Agency, the Vietnam National REDD+ Program, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Environment and the National REDD+ System of Laos.

Previously, as the co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based Lestari Capital Pte Ltd, Gabriel led and oversaw the development and innovation of the company’s environmental finance platforms, including the Sustainable Commodities Conservation Mechanism (SCCM) from the ground up. A breakthrough mechanism, the SCCM helps to link financial institutions, capital markets and corporates to conservation projects on the ground, securing them long-term funding, and creating opportunities for impact investment. Prior to that, Gabriel co-founded and led Indonesia-based Forest Carbon, the 3rd company in Indonesia to successfully develop and verify a project under Verra in the country. As the International REDD+ Technical Advisor to the Government of Laos for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) he led the technical development of project-level and Jurisdictional REDD+ approaches for the Climate Protection through Avoided Deforestation (CliPAD) project. In 2011, he was a member of the Lao national delegation to the UNFCCC COP17.
