KANJI, Karim

Karim has worked in commodity markets for over twenty years running the trading desks of several market leading utilities and trading houses. He worked at Barclays Capital for eight years and personally transacted many hundreds-of-millions of EU Allowances (EUAs) and Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) as lead emissions trader.

Karim has been a market-maker for exchanges and OTC markets in multiple commodities. He also has extensive experience of structuring, negotiating and trading physical and financial forwards, futures, swaps and options with clients.

From helping establish electricity forward trading agreements under the UK’s New Electricity Trading Arrangements in 2001, to playing a key role in developing standardised CER trading, Karim has played a key role in managing risks and providing liquidity in new and rapidly evolving markets.
