Rob Wilson joined The Nature Conservancy of Canada (“NCC”) in 2007, after nearly 20 years with the TD Bank Group, and is currently the Director of Conservation Finance at NCC. He is responsible for managing NCC’s conservation finance-related programs that support NCC’s nature-based, natural climate solutions work, with a particular focus on carbon finance. In particular, he has been involved for more than a decade in the development and management of one of North America’s largest and most highly certified forest carbon and conservation projects, known as Darkwoods, located in British Columbia and is currently completing carbon certification of a second project, the Ontario boreal forest project (“Boreal Wildlands”).
Rob is involved in a number of large-scale, land conservation programs in his work at NCC, with a focus on designing impact-based approaches by which to attract greater private capital into nature-based solutions projects across the country.
Rob has been an active member of two previous provincial Forest Carbon Policy working groups designing provincial offset protocols and was a member of the Technical Expert Team designing the recently-issued federal Improved Forest Management protocol. He is also a member of the federal Conservation Exchange Working Group. Rob holds B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Toronto and a Resource Management Diploma from its Daniels’ Forestry faculty.
