Michael will be dedicating his attention to the development of analytical offerings for the European Carbon Market, encompassing EU ETS, UK ETS, ETS2, CBAM, and various policy initiatives. He will take the lead in delivering products such as the EU ETS Monthly Outlook. These policy-driven markets remain integral components in the diverse array of solutions aimed at achieving decarbonization. His contributions will augment our current portfolio of carbon analysis services, which already include recent assessments of CORSIA aviation emissions markets, in-depth analysis of the Road to COP, and consistent coverage of the voluntary carbon markets.
Prior to joining S&P, Michael was at Goldman Sachs working as a Carbon Commodities Strategist. Prior to this Michael was Head of Carbon Pricing Strategy Analysis at BEIS and led a dedicated team in crafting the BEIS Carbon Pricing Model, a vital tool for modelling energy equilibrium in a rapidly changing landscape. Prior to BEIS Michael was at the Ministry of Justice, he served as a Senior Economist and Head of Brexit Strategy Analysis, where he delivered the strategic framework for Legal Services Trade Negotiations and played a pivotal role in shaping the target operating model for the Independent Monitoring Authority.
Michael has an MSc in Economics from UCL and BSc in Economics from Brunel University.
