Dr. Charis Yeap is the Southeast Asia Regional Lead for Green Finance and Carbon Pricing Mechanisms at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), based at the British High Commission in Singapore.She oversees the development and delivery of the regional strategy, leading programmes and policy initiatives that strengthen green financial systems and enable the financing of credible green and transition projects across Southeast Asia.Previously, Charis served as the Economic Development Adviser at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, where she led programmes and provided policy advice on the low‑carbon economy and regulatory diplomacy. Her earlier career spans research roles focused on innovation economics and transparency, as well as work with charitable organisations in Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
Charis holds a PhD in Economics from the Asia-Europe Institute, Universiti Malaya. Her research centred on Industry 4.0 technological adoption in the electronics manufacturing sector. She also holds an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hult International Business School.
