Yongzhi (Sean) Shao is Head of Global BD & Trading at Cypress New Energy, one of the pioneering companies in China’s carbon market since its inception. Cypress consistently ranks as the leading private-sector participant by trading volume in the China ETS and is actively engaged in both China Certified Emission Reduction (CCER) projects and the international voluntary carbon market.
Over the past several years, Sean has led the successful development of a diverse portfolio of high-impact climate initiatives, including large-scale coal mine methane capture and utilization projects across China, safe drinking water program in Pakistan delivering both public health improvements and carbon reduction benefits, and currently one of Africa’s most ambitious biochar projects under construction, etc. Leveraging Cypress’s extensive CCER portfolio and international VCM resources, he has provided tailored offsetting solutions to multiple Tier 1 corporations in China and globally.
