Munir Soares is an expert in climate policy and carbon markets with over 20 years of experience across technical, academic, and public policy roles. He has led, structured, and launched multiple companies in the Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) ecosystem, including REDD+ and ARR projects throughout Brazil. Munir contributed to the development of carbon credit methodologies, advised institutions such as the World Bank, and served as a researcher at USP.
As CEO of Systemica, he leads corporate strategy and project origination, working closely with Indigenous and quilombola communities, as well as private sector partners. He represented the company at COP28, engaging in global discussions on international market integration and Verra’s standards. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from UNICAMP and a Master’s and Ph.D. from USP, with a focus on environmental and natural resource policy.
