Matthew Cowie is a Director within the Climate Change and Sustainability Services group at EY New Zealand. Prior to joining EY in 2021, Matthew spent over five years at the NZ Ministry for the Environment where he was the lead government official working on the NZ ETS reform package. He lead the team that took the NZ ETS reform package (including agricultural emissions pricing and forestry reform) through Parliament in late 2019 and early 2020. Matthew was also previously the global head of carbon market research for Bloomberg New Energy Finance, based in London. In this role he was responsible for teams that built price forecasting models for carbon markets and used them to advise public and private sector clients around the world.
