Ryan Fan is Managing Director & Vice-Chair within CIBC Capital Markets’ Global Markets group. In this capacity, he supports strategic and focus clients in Western Canada and works closely with Corporate and Investment Banking partners to grow the firm’s sustainable finance business. Ryan also leads CIBC’s sustainable finance initiatives within Global Markets. Prior to his current role, he held the position of Managing Director & Head of the Equity Solutions Group, based in Toronto.
Mr. Fan began his career in investment banking with a national broker dealer, and subsequently joined CIBC Capital Markets where he worked as a proprietary equity and equity derivatives trader. In 2002, Mr. Fan moved to a Canadian-based foreign investment bank as a cash equities trader, where he focused on both agency and liability trading in precious metals, financials, utilities and merger arbitrage.
Mr. Fan earned his CFA designation in 2000 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Fan is Chair of CIBC’s Global Markets Campus Recruitment Program
