He holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Minnesota (USA). After postdoctoral studies in Mathematics, he became an Assistant and then an Associate Professor with tenure at the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and Biomedical Engineering departments at Rice University (Houston, TX). After returning to Greece, he engaged in political ecology and then worked at WWF Greece as the leader of the climate and energy policy sector. In 2018 he co-founded the Green Tank, the first purely environmental think tank in Greece, which focuses on energy & climate policy, just transition, conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development. He is a member of the National Committee on Climate Change since 2020.
