Dr Andrew McDermott is the Deputy Chief Executive at the British Ceramic Confederation where he is responsible for representing and promoting the interests of UK ceramic manufacturing companies to policymakers and regulators. His key areas of interest include energy (policy, security, costs) and emissions (net-zero, decarbonisation, emissions trading and environmental permitting). He also works across the industry to help identify, develop and implement energy and carbon reduction measures. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and is the immediate past Chair of the IOM3 Ceramics Group. Previously, he has worked in several technical roles within ceramics manufacturing, spanning both traditional and advanced ceramics.
